The society was formed in September 1994 with the object of advancing the education of the general public in history - especially the local history of the parish - and to carry out, publish and disseminate the useful results of research into the local history. Meeting every month at the Village Hall it has already published nine booklets, three books, a Millennium Video, and an illustrated Parish map.
The society’s trips to the hall form part of our commitment to the local community and other charitable interests such as the
Wildlife Aid. Other visitors have included a friendly group of local residents and there is a planned party from the Horton Kirby Village Society.
Guided by Kylie Woods, the History Society were welcomed to view the Ladies Room, Queens Room, Dining Room, and Ball Room - all of which still retain the majority of their original Victorian and Elizabethan features. This was followed by a walk around the landscaped gardens and stroll by the River Darent. Malcolm Scott of the society kindly commented, "Clearly Franks (Hall) is in good hands, and I wish you a long a prosperous stay". In response we can proudly say that we are wholly committed to maintaining this historic building and forming closer relationships with the society. Here’s to the future of Franks Hall!
